Support built around the person

Good support for a person with a learning disability or autism starts with knowing them properly. How they like to communicate. What order the morning should go in. Which sounds, places and changes are fine and which are too much. What a genuinely good day looks like to them.

Our support workers take the time to learn all of that before anything else. Support can be at home, out in the community or both, and it can range from a few hours a week of outreach to substantial daily support through our supported living service.

The aim is never to do things for someone that they could, with the right support, do for themselves. Independence, skills and confidence grow when support is patient, consistent and genuinely personal, and that is the standard we hold ourselves to.

What this support can include

  • Daily living skills

Cooking, shopping, laundry, budgeting and looking after a home, practised together and built up step by step.

  • Routines that feel safe

Support planned around the person's own routines and preferences, with changes introduced carefully and never sprung on anyone.

  • Communication on their terms

Workers who adapt to how each person communicates, whether that is words, pictures, signs or time and patience.

  • Getting out and about

Support to access college, work, activities, clubs and the community, building familiarity and confidence along the way.

  • Personal care where needed

Respectful, dignified personal care where it is part of the assessed plan, delivered by workers the person knows.

  • Health appointments

Support to attend and get the most out of GP, dental and other health appointments, including annual health checks.

  • Family involvement

With consent, families stay informed and involved. Many of the people we support have families who have advocated for them for years, and we treat that knowledge as gold.

  • Consistent, well-matched workers

We match on personality and interests as well as skills, and we keep the same small team, because familiarity is everything.

How we work

Person-centred planning

The plan is written around the person, with the person, in language that makes sense to them, and it changes as they do.

Positive and practical

We focus on what someone can do and wants to do, and we build support around goals that matter to them, not to a form.

Calm, predictable support

Consistent workers, predictable visits and careful preparation for anything new, because predictability is the foundation of confidence.

Working with the whole team

We work alongside families, social workers, colleges, day services and health professionals so support joins up instead of pulling in different directions.

Who this support suits

  • Adults with a learning disability building independence in their own home
  • Autistic adults who want support that respects their routines and sensory needs
  • Young people preparing for adulthood who need support to develop daily living skills
  • Families looking for reliable outreach support a few hours a week
  • People moving towards or already living in supported living arrangements
  • Professional referrers arranging person-centred packages for the people they support

Every person is different, which is the whole point. Tell us about the person, what matters to them and what good support has looked like before, and we will be honest about whether we are the right fit.
