Accessibility Statement

We want everyone to be able to use this website, whatever their needs.

Many of the people who use this site are older, or are helping an older relative, and some have sight, hearing, mobility or cognitive needs. We have built the site with that in mind and we keep working on it. This statement applies to safesideservices.co.uk.

1. What we have done

  • Text can be resized and pages can be zoomed, up to five times, without content being cut off or overlapping.
  • Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, and the item you are on is always clearly outlined.
  • A "Skip to main content" link is the first thing a keyboard or screen reader user reaches on every page.
  • Colours have been checked for contrast so text stays readable, including for people with low vision. Errors and states never rely on colour alone.
  • Headings follow a logical order, so screen reader users can move through a page by structure. Every page has one main heading.
  • Images carry descriptive alternative text, and purely decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
  • Every form field has a visible label, required fields are marked in words, and error messages are announced to assistive technology.
  • Buttons and links meet a minimum tap size on phones, and the phone number is a tap to call link on mobile.
  • If your device is set to reduce motion, animations on this site are switched off.
  • Pages work at phone, tablet and desktop sizes without sideways scrolling.

2. The standard we aim for

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. The site has been built to those principles and tested with a keyboard, with browser zoom, and with automated checks. It has not yet had a full independent audit by an accessibility specialist. When that audit is complete we will record the outcome and date here, and we will not claim a conformance level that has not been tested.

3. Known limitations

  • Some longer pages contain a lot of information. If you find one hard to navigate, the contents list at the top of each legal page and the headings throughout are there to help, and you are always welcome to call us instead.
  • Documents you may be sent by email or post, such as care plans, are produced separately from this website. If you need one in large print, another format or another language, ask us and we will provide it.

4. Tell us if something is not working

If you find any part of this website difficult to use, please tell us. We will do our best to put it right, and we can always give you the same information another way, over the phone or in a different format.

Call 020 3989 7290 or email info@safesideservices.co.uk. We aim to respond within five working days.

5. Enforcement

The Equality and Human Rights Commission is responsible for enforcing accessibility requirements in Great Britain. If you are not happy with how we respond to a complaint about accessibility, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service at equalityadvisoryservice.com.
